Si tratta della taverna più vecchia nella zona di Kato Zakros (dal 1898) e a pochi passi di distanza dalla spiaggia. Dal 1991 Nikos Perakis e sua moglie Tania gestiscono la taverna e offrono ininterrottamente da allora, con amore e gran voglia ai loro clienti, tradizionale e genuina cucina cretese ma anche quella greca.
Nella taverna Akrogiali si dà molta importanza alla qualità e tutti i materiali che usano (olio, verdura, carne e pesce) sono sia della loro produzione che delle altre persone del posto e dei pescatori.
La taverna è aperta dal mattino presto e tutti sono pronti ad accogliervi per la colazione o un caffè, ma anche per offrirvi delle bibite o delle spremute e, per i più grandi, delle birre o ouzo con stuzzichini squisiti.
Potete godere le cristalline acque del nostro mare, mentre il vostro pasto viene preparato, secondo sempre le vostre esigenze gustose.
La vista dalla taverna è straordinaria, durante tutto il giorno.Potete ammirare l’ azzurro infinito del mare e il tramonto che ha una bellezza unica.

When we're on tour in Crete we dont't miss to go for lunch to the Akrogiali Taverna because Food, especially fish fresh from the catch, meat from the grill and local specialities, are all excellent and the staff is exceptionally amiable - so we'll go there again and again and again!

I have tried different tavernas in Kato zakros and this one proved to be the best. I ordered the local grilled fish and greek salad which were excellent. The service was very nice and helpful!
